Steel District[]

The district of honor...

Steel is an expansionist district, with a leader who would, as Duke Wine puts it, “war on his own mother.” The District is allies with the Carpenter, Garment, Iron, Shipwright and Stables Districts. The war machine as they are called. It is a newer district, and one of the most powerful in Filth. All of their men are trained to be soldiers, every single one. They have the most formidable fighting force in all of Filth. When Filth warred on the tribes to the south, Steel was in it for the glory.

People[]

  • Duke Steel—A gregarious and honest man. He always wears mail.
  • Rothjen Steel—Commander of the Filthy Watch.

  • “The Long Night’s Sleep”

Quotes[]

  • “My district is ready for war” — Duke Steel
  • “’Ho, foresty folk. This hunt ends now. I’ve lost three good Steel soldiers running you down. Who is your top man?’
  • Flora hid her scars. It was likely Duke Steel had heard about her performance in the Pleasure Pit—they’re calling me the two-faced princess back in the city. Her presence wouldn't help them parlay.
  • ‘I am the leader of these few,’ Leaf said.
  • ‘And I see you’ve led us to a bog. Ha! I too know my history, my man, but the season is not wet enough to drown us, I’m afraid. Here are my terms. Single combat with me for your freedom; choose your man.’
  • ‘And if my man loses?”
  • ‘You all lose, but with honor. Surrender straight up, and we’ll only hang three of you. That’s how many of my men I’ve lost to your lot in the trees. Ambush is a cowardly way to fight, I’ll add. Let it be said that Duke Steel does not hid behind a machine or his men.’” — Duke Steel and Leaf
